The 2nd Western District Military Court has handed down a verdict in the case of high treason and preparation of sabotage against Kirill Jafarov and Pavel Devnin. This was reported on Thursday, July 24, on the website of the Prosecutor's office of the Tver region.

Jafarov and Devnin were found guilty under articles on high treason, facilitating terrorist activities, preparing to participate in the activities of a terrorist organization and undergoing training in order to carry out sabotage activities.

According to the case file, Devnin supported the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the activities of the Legion of Freedom of Russia, a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation, inciting Jafarov to join the ranks of the formation. In November 2023, Jafarov filled out an application form and expressed his willingness to provide assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From December 2023 to January 2024, he was trained in sabotage activities.

In addition, in January 2024, Jafarov and Devnin handed over to the Ukrainian curator photos and videos with personal data of a resident of the Tver region and his family for use in pro-Ukrainian operations. The decision to enroll Jafarov in the Legion was not made, as he was unable to complete the tasks of the curator. Their activities were suppressed by employees of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Tver region.

"The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced Jafarov to 17 years in prison with serving the first three years in prison, and the rest of the term in a high—security penal colony with restriction of liberty for a period of 1 year and 6 months. Devnin is sentenced to 14 years in prison with serving the first three years in prison, and the rest of the term in a high–security penal colony with one year of restriction of freedom," the message says.

Earlier, on July 18, law enforcement officers detained a resident of Feodosia for transferring data on the locations of military installations and the location of the air defense forces to the special service and military intelligence of Ukraine. It was clarified that the man sent the information via messenger. In this regard, a criminal case was opened under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Treason").
