Passenger car production in Russia decreased by 2% year-on-year
According to the results of the first half of 2025, 326 thousand passenger cars were produced in Russia, which is 2.1% lower than in the same period last year. This follows from the data published by Rosstat.
In June, the production of passenger cars decreased by 28.2% year-on-year, to 45 thousand units. However, compared to May of this year, this figure was 28.4% higher.
Truck production decreased by 23.9% to 68.8 thousand vehicles in six months. In June, 10.3 thousand trucks were produced, which is 40.3% less than in June last year, but 15.6% more than in May 2025.
In the first half of the year, 4.7 thousand buses weighing more than 5 tons were produced (-37.4% YoY). In June, production amounted to 858 units (-25.7% compared to last June, but 19.5% more than in May 2025).
Buses weighing less than 5 tons were produced in the Russian Federation in the amount of 7.8 thousand units (-22.6%) in six months. In June, production amounted to 1.2 thousand units, compared to June 2024, the figure decreased by 37%, compared to May of this year, it increased by 31.4%. As for the internal combustion engines of motor vehicles, 106 thousand were produced in the Russian Federation in six months. Internal combustion engines (-3.5%), of which 16.9 thousand were in June (-15% and +5.6%, respectively).
On June 26, it was reported that in May 2025, 35 thousand passenger cars rolled off the assembly lines in Russia — 18.5% less than at the end of last spring. A total of 281,000 cars were produced from January to May, which is 4% higher than in the first five months of 2024.
