Moscow will choose the best bookstore

In September — December 2025, the capital will host the XIX competition "The Best Bookstore in Moscow." The decree was signed by the mayor of the city, Sergei Sobyanin, reports mos.ru .

The collection of applications for this year's competition will begin on September 1. The competition will take place in two stages: the collection of applications and quality control using methods of sociological research. To identify the best store, the organizers will conduct a survey of customers, an analysis of data and materials from open sources (desk research) and other events.

Since 2024, the competition has been held in three categories: "Bookstore. Strategy. Effectiveness. Innovations", "Bookstore — center for cultural and educational events", "The best specialist in the book trade". More than 50 applications are submitted annually for participation.

Bookstores compete in two groups — universal, with an annual turnover of up to 15 million or more, and specialized. The winners will be determined by the competition committee, whose composition is approved by the Department of Mass Media and Advertising of the city of Moscow. Voting on the "Buyer's Choice" nomination will open in the "Active Citizen" project.

The competition "The Best bookstore in Moscow" has been held since 2007. Among the main goals are the popularization of books and reading, stimulating the introduction of modern forms and methods of book trade. In 2024, the Dostoevsky shops on Vozdvizhenka, Moscow on Tverskaya, I Love to Read in Bolshoy Sukharevsky Lane and others were among the winners.
