S7 Airlines was fined 40 thousand rubles for repeated overbooking.
S7 Airlines (Siberia) was fined 40,000 rubles for repeated overbooking. This was announced on July 24 by the press service of the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office in its Telegram channel.
According to preliminary information, in May of this year, the airline refused to register two passengers for the flight.
"It was established that in May 2025, several passengers were denied check—in due to the excess of the number of registered passengers over the number of seats on board the aircraft," the report said.
S7 Airlines was brought to administrative responsibility under Part 2 of Article 14.4 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not comply with regulatory legal acts, committed repeatedly").
Earlier, on June 2, it was reported that Russia may impose a ban on the use of overbooking by air carriers. The draft law of the State Duma notes that the reason for the emergence of this mechanism is the desire of air carriers to achieve maximum economic benefits — some passengers do not appear on the flight, and in order to achieve greater profits, it is necessary that all available seats are occupied in the aircraft.
