The number of business travel bookings increased by 17%
The number of business travel bookings increased by 17% in June–August 2025 compared to the same period last year. The analysts of the Ostrovok Business Trip service told Izvestia about this.
At the same time, they noted that the growth in domestic directions was 18%, and in foreign directions — 11% year on year. Most often, representatives of trade, industry, IT and consulting, as well as engineering and transport industries, go on business trips in the summer, analysts said.
In addition, they reported that 86% of all business travelers' bookings this summer are for trips to Russia and 14% for international destinations.
Within the country, companies most often book accommodation in St. Petersburg, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Yekaterinburg and Kazan. Business tourists from abroad visit China, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Italy and Turkey. The largest year—on-year increase in accommodation bookings is shown by Belarus - by almost 60%, Italy — by 24%.
"We note that the traditional framework of seasonality in business tourism is gradually erasing: companies travel on business trips all year round, including summer, which was previously considered a low season. This is a global trend, which is also noted by Western companies in the business travel segment. Many international forums and exhibitions take place during the summer season. It is also a good time for holding internal events of companies — strategic sessions, field meetings, team building and meetings with partners. This is how a business can combine a change of environment with the elaboration of key business goals and increased team engagement," explained Lyubov Vasilyeva, head of the Ostrovok Business Trip service.
Earlier, on July 13, Izvestia reported that Istanbul became the most popular city for summer business trips among Russians. Next on the list are Minsk and Shanghai. The popularity of the Turkish city has decreased by a third. Business interest in trips to the capital of Belarus and Shanghai has hardly changed. In addition, business trips to Almaty, Tashkent, Dubai, Yerevan, Astana, Tbilisi and Beijing are often planned this summer.
