Medinsky reminded Rutte about the outcome of the Chinese Civil war
On July 23, Vladimir Medinsky, Assistant to the President of Russia and head of the Russian delegation to negotiations with Ukraine in Istanbul, reminded NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte about the results of the civil war in China in the context of a meeting between the delegations of Moscow and Kiev.
"I will provide a historical background especially for Mr. Rutte, as a great lover of history. In China, there was a civil war between Communists and nationalists — Chiang Kai-shek and Mao Zedong. Chiang Kai-shek insisted all the time that we should meet in person and agree on everything," Medinsky said.
He stressed that the parties had met five times, but in the end it did not lead to peace and the end of the war. The reason, according to the head of the Russian delegation, is unresolved basic issues of contradiction.
"The war continued. By the way, despite massive Western military assistance, the nationalists still lost this war and the Communists won," the presidential aide said.
On the evening of July 23, the third round of negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine ended in Istanbul. The discussion of the representatives of the countries was held in a closed format, without the staff of the press service. The negotiations lasted about an hour.
On June 27, Medinsky announced his readiness to discuss with Rutte the history of Little Russia and the Zaporozhian Army. The presidential aide also made a proposal to send the NATO Secretary General a sixth-grade Russian history textbook. However, according to him, Rutte is unlikely to appreciate the gift.
