The Tushinsky District Court of Moscow has sentenced the leader of a cell of the Chinese Falun Gong sect, a member of the Falun Dafa Center for Spiritual and Physical Development (both organizations are banned in the Russian Federation and recognized as extremist). Natalia Minenkova was sentenced to four years in a general regime penal colony. This was reported on July 23 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

Minenkova was charged under several articles. She is accused of organizing the work of a foreign or international non-governmental organization (NGO) deemed undesirable in Russia. She was also accused of selling products from undesirable organizations and organizing the study of banned extremist literature.

In addition, the court banned Minenkova from engaging in public and political activities for seven years. It is noted that the verdict has not yet entered into legal force.

Last December, a follower of the Falun Gong sect, which was founded in China in 1992 and subsequently banned in his homeland due to suicides and belief in "miraculous healing," was arrested in Moscow. Buslov was charged under Part 1 of Article 284.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Participation in the activities of a foreign or international organization, in respect of which a decision was made to recognize its undesirable activities in the Russian Federation").
