- Patrushev discussed the ecology and agro-industrial complex of the region with the head of the Voronezh Region
In 2024, the Voronezh Region became the leader in agricultural production in the Central Federal District (CFD) and ranked fourth in this indicator in Russia. This was announced on July 23 by Alexander Gusev, Governor of the Voronezh Region, at a meeting with Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
The head of the region also noted that this year, despite the weather conditions, farmers have already harvested one 1 million tons of grain. According to Gusev, the region has entered the top five producers of meat and milk in Russia.
In addition, the region has become a leader in the number of certified production facilities. Gusev specified that certified seed farms, scientific institutions and seed production plants are actively developing in the region.
Special attention was paid to environmental issues at the meeting. Over the past five years, unauthorized landfills have been eliminated in the region, and processes for clearing reservoirs and overhauling hydraulic structures have been established.
Following the meeting, Dmitry Patrushev instructed the Russian Environmental Operator, together with the Voronezh Region, to step up work on creating an infrastructure for waste management on time, since the comfort of the region's residents depends on the results of this work.
Earlier, on July 22, Russian Agriculture Minister Oksana Lut said at a meeting on the development of grain exports that Russia had expanded the geography of grain exports, and supplies to seven countries had resumed. She noted that this year, shipments from Russia in the 2024/25 agricultural year amounted to about 53 million tons, including 44 million tons of wheat.
