The former head of the military mission, Sergei Bolgaryov, was sentenced to 8.5 years in a high-security penal colony for bribing the general director of JSC Pyatigorsk Plant Impulse. This was reported on July 23 in the press service of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

"Bolgaryov was found guilty of accepting a particularly large bribe while fulfilling a state defense order (Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is specified that in 2017-2023, the Russian Ministry of Defense signed a contract with JSC Pyatigorsk Plant Impulse for the supply of communication devices totaling more than 500 million rubles. Bolgaryov was responsible for product quality control, but he received bribes in the amount of over 14 million rubles for his general patronage.

The court sentenced Bolgaryov to 8.5 years in a high-security penal colony and recovered illegally obtained income.

Earlier, on July 1, the Moscow City Court found former Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov guilty of embezzlement of funds from the Intercommerce bank and embezzlement of money when buying ferries for the Kerch ferry and sentenced him to 13 years in a penal colony. In addition, he was fined 100 million rubles, and was stripped of his state award and the title of Honored Builder of the Russian Federation.
