Investigators are conducting an inspection after the derailment and overturning of a shunting locomotive in the Khabarovsk Territory. This was reported in the Telegram channel of the Eastern Interregional Investigative Department for Transport (MCT) of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation on Wednesday, July 23.
The incident occurred at 06:10 local time (23:10 on July 22, Moscow time) on the railway tracks of Amur CHPP-1, along which a locomotive with gondola cars loaded with coal was traveling from the Mylka station to the unloading site. According to preliminary data, the locomotive driver violated safety rules when operating the train.
The ministry reported that there were no casualties as a result of the incident, and the railway and other infrastructure were not seriously damaged. However, the locomotive itself was damaged.
The circumstances and causes of the incident are being established, and a pre-investigation check has been launched on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of railway transport). Transport prosecutor Denis Chelyshev went to the place of the train derailment, he will coordinate the actions of law enforcement and regulatory authorities.
Earlier, on July 12, in Primorsky Krai, eight wagons with rubble derailed, there were no casualties. It is specified that the incident occurred at the Sibirtsevo station of the Far Eastern Railway, and as a result, no injuries were recorded.
Before that, on June 28, in the Amur region, a locomotive derailed due to a collision with another train. It was reported that the drivers received bruises and abrasions.
