Israel offered Hamas to release 125 Palestinians in exchange for hostages
Israel has offered the radical Palestinian movement Hamas the release of 125 Palestinians sentenced to life in prison in exchange for hostages during negotiations on a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on Tuesday, July 22, by Al Hadath TV channel, the video was posted on YouTube.
According to media reports, the Israeli side also expressed its readiness to release 1,100 Palestinians detained after October 7, 2023.
The negotiators have not yet given official comments.
Earlier in the day, the head of European diplomacy, Kaya Kallas, said that the European Union (EU) is ready to resort to various retaliatory measures if the Israeli leadership abandons its obligations to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip.
At the same time, a diplomatic source in Israel told Izvestia that the country's authorities were discussing the possibility of transferring control of the Gaza Strip to local structures not affiliated with Hamas.
