UnionPay cards of only one Russian bank operate in the countries of the European Union — the Asia-Pacific. This was confirmed to Izvestia by credit organizations.

Until July 20, the Rosselkhoznadzor's plastic was also accepted in European countries. However, it warned that time restrictions apply from that day on. The cards currently do not work in the EU, the call center of the financial institution and the press service informed.

Meanwhile, the Asia-Pacific Bank's support team reported that the bank's customers can pay almost anywhere. In particular, payment transactions can be carried out in Germany, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, India, South Korea and Kazakhstan.

ATB itself is not under sanctions. However, disruptions are still occurring in a number of European countries, call center workers warned.

As noted by independent expert Andrey Barkhota, the Asia-Pacific Bank still has space to service UnionPay, as it is a bank with non-resident capital, and it was not considered as a potential sub-sanctioning facility. At the same time, customers in Russia cannot have full confidence that they will not face restrictions in the very near future, he concluded.
