- The gap between average salaries in the regions has reached a record 182 thousand rubles.
In April 2025, the gap between the maximum and minimum average wages in the regions of Russia reached a record 182 thousand rubles, Izvestia calculated based on Rosstat data. It has grown by 23% over the year. They earn the most in Chukotka — 223 thousand rubles, the least in Ingushetia, where they pay an average of 41 thousand rubles.
The average salary in the country was 97,000— which is 16% more than a year ago.
The Yamalo-Nenets and Nenets Autonomous Districts, Moscow and the Magadan Region are also among the leaders in salaries — they pay from 145 thousand to 185 thousand rubles. At the bottom of the rating, in addition to Ingushetia— are Chechnya, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria and Ossetia (44-51 thousand).
The difference is almost six times due to the fact that employment and incomes are higher in industrial regions, explained economist Andrei Barkhota. And in the southern regions, where agriculture and trade prevail, unemployment is higher, activity is seasonal, and there are fewer stable jobs.
In addition, salaries in the regions of the Far North and Siberia are increasing due to regional coefficients and allowances, said Yulia Dolzhenkova, a professor at the Financial University.
To close the gap, the authorities of agrarian and "poor" regions should look for growth points based on natural resources and infrastructure, said Natalia Milchakova, a leading analyst at Freedom Finance Global. For example, mining can be developed in regions with cheap electricity. And in hot climates — to launch solar energy projects, cooperating with suppliers from China.
