- The US State Department announced the US's readiness for direct negotiations with Iran.
Washington is ready for direct talks with Tehran on the Iranian nuclear program. This was announced on Tuesday, July 22, by the head of the press service of the US Department of State, Tammy Bruce.
"We are also ready for a direct dialogue with the Iranians," she said during a briefing.
According to Bruce, Iran can now choose the path of "peace and prosperity" in the interests of the Iranian people.
The day before, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic, Abbas Araqchi, said that Tehran is currently open to negotiations with Washington, but only in an indirect format.
Earlier, on July 16, US President Donald Trump expressed the opinion that Iran "desperately" wants to resume negotiations with the United States. At the same time, he noted that the United States is not in a hurry to resume negotiations, but if the Iranian side wants to hold the next round of settlement, Washington will not refuse.
