Starting from July 23, all charging stations of the Moscow Energy project will become chargeable. An average market tariff will be introduced for them, the capital's Deptrans announced on its Telegram channel on July 22. The pilot project at city stations has been in operation for almost five years, during which time users have completed more than 1 million free charging sessions.

At direct current stations (starting from 50 kW), the tariff will be 20 rubles per kWh, and at alternating current stations (22-44 kW) — 15 rubles per kWh.

The introduction of payment will allow the installation of 500 "fast" electric charging stations (EPPS) annually starting this year, the department noted. In addition, this should increase the investment attractiveness of the project, increase the pace of development of the EHS network, improve the quality of service and enable the introduction of new technological solutions into the project, as well as ensure a balanced workload level of charging stations, they said.

Last year, about 40 new electronic charging stations were installed in Moscow, where they started testing payments for charging sessions. Currently, the number of stations exceeds 120. They have been recharged more than 45 thousand times.

Deptrans stressed that the following benefits for owners of electric vehicles will continue to apply in Moscow: exemption from paying transport tax and the opportunity to use city parking for free.

Earlier, on July 10, it was reported that 4,398 new electric vehicles were sold in Russia in the first half of 2025, which is 57% less than in January–June 2024. The decline in sales in this market segment has been observed for exactly one year — since July last year.

On June 17, it became known that the government of the Russian Federation adjusted the procedure for purchasing vehicles for state and municipal needs, setting a priority for environmentally friendly equipment. Instead of diesel and gasoline cars, government customers must now primarily purchase electric vehicles and vehicles powered by natural gas, the cabinet said.
