Putin congratulates Russian schoolchildren on their victory in the Mathematical Olympiad

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated the national team of schoolchildren who won gold and silver medals at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), which was held in the Australian Sunshine Coast. This was announced on July 22 on the Kremlin's official website.

"Dear Dmitry [Grishko], Ilya [Zamotorin], Vasily [Patrushev], Ivan [Chasovskikh], Artyom [Sadykov], Ivan [Kokarev]! I congratulate you on your excellent performance at the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad in distance format, which was attended by schoolchildren from 100 countries," reads the telegram of the head of state.

Putin noted that the participants demonstrated team cohesion and the will to win in a highly competitive environment. According to him, their success has confirmed the high level of the Russian mathematical school. The President also stressed that the mentors, parents and friends of the children would share this achievement with them.

On July 19, the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation reported that a team of schoolchildren from Russia won five gold medals at the 66th MMO. Minister of Education Sergey Kravtsov noted that such results of the students are a real sign of the quality of the Russian mathematical school system and education in the country.
