Sofia Lisina, a rehabilitation coach at the online fitness service WowFit, told Izvestia on July 25 how to plan sports activities, build a diet and track the main health indicators.
"After the age of 40 and even at an advanced age, people can practice a wide variety of sports, whether it's extreme activities, hiking, yoga classes in nature or weight training in the gym. However, at this age, it is important to approach the choice of directions consciously, taking into account the state of health and the level of training. You should not immediately test yourself with excessive loads, each activity should be enjoyable and correspond to the purpose of training. The main thing is not to do any harm," the specialist said.
According to Lisina, strength and functional training, yoga and wellness fitness are among the popular sports for people over 40.
The risk of cardiovascular diseases and diabetes increases with age, so regular medical examinations are necessary for early detection of problems, the coach noted. She recommended undergoing an in-depth medical examination, which will help assess your overall health and identify contraindications for exercise.
The specialist drew attention to the fact that, in addition to physical activity, nutrition plays a key role in maintaining health. With age, the metabolism slows down, and eating habits begin to affect the general condition of the body. A proper diet will help prevent age-related diseases and improve the quality of life, Lisina emphasized.
DDX Fitness network coach Artyom Opalnitsky told Izvestia on July 3 the rules of safe training in hot weather. The expert recommended scheduling classes in the morning before 10:00 a.m. or in the evening after 18:00 p.m., when solar activity decreases.
