The second Russia—Africa Ministerial conference is scheduled to be held in Egypt this year. This was stated on July 22 by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov at a press conference following talks with Mozambican Foreign Minister Maria Lukas.

"We have devoted attention to the preparation of the second [Russia—Africa] ministerial forum, which is scheduled to be held in Egypt this fall," Lavrov said.

In addition, the diplomat stressed that he would visit Mozambique at the invitation of Lukas.

"I will definitely do it," he added.

On May 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting with his counterpart from the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, said that strengthening ties with Africa was one of the priorities of Russia's foreign policy. According to the Russian leader, the two countries are in solidarity in their approaches to solving many pressing global issues.
