The State Duma adopted amendments to tighten sanctions for not allowing cars with flashing lights.

At the plenary session on July 22, the State Duma adopted in the third reading amendments to the Administrative Code, which involve tougher penalties for drivers for not allowing special vehicles. The bill is posted on the website of the lower house of Parliament.

According to the amendments to Article 12.17 of the Administrative Code, drivers will be fined from 7.5 thousand to 10 thousand rubles or deprived of their rights for a period of six months to a year for not providing an advantage in movement to a vehicle with color markings on the body, flashing lights in blue or red and blue colors and a special sound signal.

A similar sanction is provided for the non-admission of vehicles without color schemes, inscriptions and designations, with flashing lights and a sound signal turned on at the same time, as well as the vehicle accompanied by it. Previously, it was assumed that the fine for this would be from 5.5 thousand to 7.5 thousand rubles.

Now, for refusing to let a car pass with a blue flashing light and a special sound signal turned on at the same time, the violator faces a warning or a fine of 500 rubles. For not allowing a car with a blue flashing light on and color schemes and inscriptions on board (for example, an ambulance), the violator can be fined from 4.5 thousand to 7.5 thousand rubles or deprived of his rights for a period of three months to one year.

Earlier in July, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin signed a government decree developed by the Ministry of Transport, which establishes the rules for the passage of special vehicles on highways. So, drivers are required to give way to the lane, that is, change lanes to the next one or, if possible, pull over to the side of the road. Performing such a maneuver will mean that the driver has fully fulfilled his duties and is not subject to administrative liability. At the same time, if a special vehicle is traveling in an adjacent lane, then it is enough for the driver not to create obstacles for him.

A maneuver completed in a prohibited location is considered a traffic violation.

Also on that day, it was reported that the State Duma in the third reading adopted a bill that grants the right of free passage on toll roads to vehicles of law enforcement agencies — the Rosgvardiya, the FSB and the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
