Former Deputy Defense Minister Bulgakov's arrest in fraud case was extended
Dmitry Bulgakov, the former Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, has had his arrest extended in a particularly large-scale fraud case. This was reported on July 22 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the Moscow City Court.
It is specified that he will remain in custody until October 25.
In addition, the court extended the arrest of two other defendants in the case, German Yakovlev and Gennady Seleznev, for the same period.
On December 19, 2024, it was reported that Bulgakov had created a criminal group with the aim of stealing other people's property. He involved acquaintances as well as unidentified persons in the group. It was clarified that during Bulgakov's work, a system of supplying substandard food to the troops at an inflated cost was created, within which the general himself could illegally receive funds.
Bulgakov's detention became known on July 26 of the same year. According to the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation, he is a defendant in a criminal case on corruption and has been placed in the Butyrka pre-trial detention center. According to Bulgakov's income statement, he earned 15.2 million rubles in 2018. They were also going to check him for involvement in actions related to the embezzlement of 400 million rubles in the execution of Voentorg state contracts.
