- Bobrovsky was recognized as the best hockey player in Russia in the 2024/25 season.
The Russian goalkeeper of the hockey club (HC) of the NHL "Florida Panthers" Sergey Bobrovsky became the winner of the award "The best hockey player of Russia" in the 2024/2025 season. This was reported by Sport-Express on July 22.
60 leading Russian authors, commentators and bloggers took part in the survey. The voting list includes journalists from SE, KHL TV, Match TV, Championship, Sports, Sport24, TASS, RIA Novosti, Izvestia, RB Sport and a number of other organizations.
It is noted that the second place in the nomination "The Best hockey player of Russia" was taken by the forward of HC Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin. In addition, Bobrovsky was also recognized as the best goalkeeper.
"The Best Hockey Player in Russia" is a large—scale project of Sport Express, in which all major Russian sports media participate. The award was established in 2023. You can vote for a representative of any hockey league in the world.
The survey participants could name the top 5 in the "Best Hockey Player" nomination and the top 3 in other nominations. Then the results were summed up (10-7-4-2-1 points for 1-5 places in the main category and 5-3-1 for 1-3 places in the others).
The Association of Professional Hockey Journalists announced on June 18 that Bobrovsky took third place in the voting for the Conn Smythe Trophy for the most valuable player of the NHL Playoffs. Out of 18 journalists, ten people ranked the Russian goalkeeper in third place. Sam Bennett, another Florida player, eventually took the top spot on the list.
