An electoral bloc of four opposition parties has been formed in Moldova.
An electoral bloc has been formed in Moldova, which includes four opposition parties of the country: the Party of Socialists, the Party of Communists, the Heart of Moldova party and the Future of Moldova party. This was announced by representatives of the parties at a press conference on July 22.
"In foreign policy, we advocate a balanced partnership with all countries and the restoration of relations with the Russian Federation. All the foreign policy and guidelines of the current government should be reviewed and correspond to the national interests of Moldova," said Igor Dodon, chairman of the Party of Socialists and former President of Moldova. His words were quoted by Sputnik Moldova on July 22 in its Telegram channel.
Irina Vlah, ex-bashkan of Gagauzia and leader of the Heart of Moldova party, noted that the possible victory of the Action and Solidarity party (PAS) could lead to a threat to the existence of Moldova. She noted that in the upcoming parliamentary elections to be held in the republic this fall, the bloc will have to confront not only the PAS, but also state institutions controlled by the ruling party.
In addition, the party leaders called for maintaining Moldova's neutral status.
"PAS has led the country to the abyss. People were fleeing Moldova, and specialists were fleeing. Our task is to consolidate society, there is a lot of work," added Vladimir Voronin, leader of the Communist Party and former President of Moldova.
Former Moldovan President Igor Dodon said on June 23 that the republic's authorities intend to cast 500,000 ballots in the parliamentary elections to be held in September. According to him, the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen, has set the republic's authorities the task of retaining Maia Sandu as President of Moldova.
On June 20, Dodon told Izvestia on the sidelines of the SPIEF that the next few months would be key for Moldova in light of the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for the end of September. Dodon added that other European leaders want to keep power for Sandu, but for this they need control over parliament.
