Hacker from Novosibirsk hacked more than 70 webcams of Russian companies

Investigators have opened a criminal case for the commission of hacker attacks on the resources of Russian companies and organizations by a resident of Novosibirsk. This was reported on July 22 in the press service of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Novosibirsk region.

It is specified that he used malware to gain access to information resources. From 2023 to 2025, he managed to hack more than 70 webcams in different cities of Russia.

"Based on the results of the operational search activities of the security agencies, the investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Novosibirsk initiated four criminal cases against a citizen under Part 1 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Creation, use and distribution of malicious software")," the message says.

It is specified that the person involved faces restriction of liberty for up to four years and a fine of up to 200 thousand rubles.

Earlier, on June 26, Sergey Balyberdin, a methodologist at Cyber Testing JSC, spoke about targeted hacker attacks. According to him, they have a high level of training: attackers register domains in advance, study the structure of the organization, employee behavior, and sometimes try to infiltrate IT or outsourcing teams. In addition, the expert emphasized that web applications remain the most common entry point for cybercriminals.
