In the Trans-Baikal Territory, two minors were detained for two months due to the arson of a forest that occurred on July 19, near the urban-type settlement of Atamanovka. On July 22, the Chita District Court announced this on the VKontakte social network.

"An investigator from the investigative department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Trans—Baikal Territory filed petitions for the choice of a preventive measure in the form of detention, arguing that minors are accused of committing a serious crime for which a penalty of up to ten years in prison is provided," the report said.

The ministry noted that as a result of the arson, material damage was caused by more than 322 million rubles. Both minor defendants in the case partially admitted their guilt. Earlier, one of the defendants was seen escaping from an orphanage, both minors did not have completed basic general education.

Earlier, on July 4, 104 forest fires were identified in Transbaikalia, 82 of them were grass fires, and 22 more were forests. It is noted that since the beginning of the fire-hazardous period, 8.6 thousand patrols have been conducted. The inspectors identified 557 violations and drew up 376 protocols, of which 46 were reviewed. Six criminal cases have been initiated.
