Republicans postponed congressional meetings due to the Epstein case until August.
The Rules Committee of the House of Representatives of the US Congress announced the "August holidays" after demands from members of the Democratic and Republican Parties to release the case file of financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused of trafficking minors. The Politico newspaper writes about this on July 21, citing sources.
According to media reports, Democrats will hold another vote on releasing documents related to Jeffrey Epstein before lawmakers leave for an August recess. It is specified that consideration of the issue will continue after a one-month break.
As indicated in the publication, Republicans are "afraid" of US President Donald Trump because of his possible ties to Epstein, which may be confirmed by the publication of materials on the case.
Earlier, on July 17, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper reported that Trump allegedly gave Epstein a letter with a naked woman on his 50th birthday. It was clarified that in it the head of state wished the financier "wonderful secrets every day."
On July 18, Trump filed a lawsuit against WSJ owner Rupert Murdoch for publishing an alleged erotic gift to Epstein. On July 20, it became known about the 15-year friendship between the US president and the financier.
On July 21, Politico wrote that the White House had excluded the WSJ from the pool of journalists covering Trump's upcoming trip to Scotland in connection with the publication's investigation into the Epstein case.
