In France, any technology company can be declared a "criminal group." This was announced on Tuesday, July 22, by Pavel Durov, the founder of the Telegram platform.

"At the moment, any technology company in France can be declared a 'criminal group,'" he wrote on the social network X.

Durov added that this is how several bureaucrats advance their careers and politics at the cost of years of efforts to develop technology and the interests of the French people.

Earlier, on July 12, Durov said that the French authorities were preventing the manifestation of freedom of speech and technological progress in the country.

The corresponding post was written in response to the launch of a criminal investigation into the social network X of American billionaire and entrepreneur Elon Musk in France.
