The Russian Ambassador to Canada announced the paralysis of the Arctic Council
At the moment, the Arctic Council (AU) remains virtually paralyzed, Russian Ambassador to Ottawa Oleg Stepanov told Izvestia. Canada is one of the most belligerent countries hindering dialogue.
"With Finland and Sweden joining NATO, the liberals at the helm in Ottawa are not hiding their desire to transform it (the structure of the Arctic Council. — Ed.) into the arena of confrontation with Russia, where seven NATO states would play together in one group against our country. Time will tell whether the Arctic Council will survive. Russia has always been against the politicization of his work, and has consistently advocated the preservation of high latitudes as a conflict—free zone of the world," Stepanov told Izvestia.
After Russia launched a special operation in Ukraine, the United States, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Sweden began to refuse meetings through the Arctic Council under the chairmanship of the Russian Federation. Canada is one of the most aggressive states, and the Ukrainian diasporas there have a great influence on various processes.
