Time will tell whether the Arctic Council will survive. Russia has always been against the politicization of his work, and has consistently advocated the preservation of high latitudes as a conflict—free zone of the world," Stepanov told Izvestia.

After Russia launched a special operation in Ukraine, the United States, Canada, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Finland and Sweden began to refuse meetings through the Arctic Council under the chairmanship of the Russian Federation. Canada is one of the most aggressive states, and the Ukrainian diasporas there have a great influence on various processes.
