The coach of the US national freestyle wrestling team, Bill Zadik, said on July 21 that competitions between teams from different countries can strengthen not only sports, but also human ties.

"I believe that sport has always been a bridge between countries, and that's what we're doing here. We want to compete with the strongest, and I think our Russian friends want that too," he told Izvestia correspondent Igor Baldin.

American wrestler Luke Lilledahl, in turn, expressed the opinion that now it's not so much about the fight itself as about friendship and mutual understanding between the countries.

The Russian national freestyle wrestling team defeated the athletes from the USA in a match meeting on July 21. The competition was held in Budapest and was held in ten weight categories.

Russian athletes competed under the national flag, and before the start of the meeting, the anthems of both countries were played. In the final decisive confrontation, Zelimkhan Khizriev, who defeated Trent Hillger, brought victory to Russia.
