Nutritionist Galina Leonova told how to avoid dependence on sweets.

In conversation with the agency RuNews24.Ru On Monday, July 21, she explained that cravings for sweets can be associated not only with biochemical processes, but also with an emotional state, lack of sleep, lack of nutrients and disorders in the body.

According to her, sugar triggers the release of dopamine, and sweets are often used as a way to cope with stress. In addition, the constant consumption of industrial sweet foods "clogs" the taste buds, increasing dependence.

Leonova advises to gradually reduce the amount of sugar in the diet, replace sweets with healthy foods, improve sleep, physical activity and, if necessary, consult a psychologist. A conscious approach to nutrition helps not only to get rid of addiction, but also to improve overall well-being.

Among the reasons for sugar addiction, the expert noted the desire to cope with negative emotions in this way, lack of fat and high-quality calories, as well as sleep problems, writes RIAMO.

On July 13, expert Dmitry Bystrov explained why the craving for sweets increases in the heat. According to him, in hot weather, the body actively spends resources on thermoregulation, which causes glucose reserves to decrease rapidly. In such conditions, sweets become a kind of "fast fuel", since the brain perceives sugar as a source of instant energy, writes RT.

On July 8, expert Maria Molostvova named magnesium deficiency as one of the reasons for cravings for sweets. To combat the habit, Molostvova advised to review the diet, adjust sleep patterns, increase the consumption of foods rich in magnesium and detox the intestines, reports 360.ru .

In June, endocrinologist Alexandra Brevnova warned that sugary drinks increase the risk of depression. Sugary drinks can also provoke a number of other serious diseases, one of which is type 2 diabetes.

In January, nutritionist Marina Makisha told the National Health Council that a ban on the sale of fast food to children would not have the desired effect, it would be more useful to ban the sale of sweets on school grounds. According to her, the most dangerous food for children is high–calorie and empty food, this includes everything that contains a large amount of flour and sugar. Sweet drinks, cocktails, desserts.
