Russia is categorically against NATO's increased activity in the North Sea, as this will lead to a destabilization of the security situation in Europe. This was announced on July 21 by the Russian Ambassador to the Netherlands, Russia's permanent representative to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) in The Hague, Vladimir Tarabrin.

"Russia strongly opposes the increase in NATO activity in the North Sea, as this will only further destabilize the security situation in Europe, which is already far from stable," he said in an interview with TASS.

According to Tarabrin, the North Atlantic Alliance plans to turn the Netherlands into a logistics hub for the transfer of military contingents and cargo across the Atlantic Ocean to Europe. Reserving places for military cargo at the port of Rotterdam is "an expected step," he added.

The Financial Times newspaper reported on July 8 that the management of the Dutch port of Rotterdam has begun reserving places in its harbor for ships that will carry military cargo in case of conflict with Russia. According to General Director Baudouin Simons, one or more vessels will dock at this port for several weeks, four to five times a year.
