Russian and Iranian Defense Ministers discuss strengthening cooperation in Moscow
Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov held talks with his Iranian counterpart Aziz Nasirzadeh in Moscow. This was announced on July 21 by the Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, in an interview with the IRNA news agency.
"The main focus of this meeting was to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the defense and military fields," he was quoted as saying by the Telegram channel of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic in Moscow.
According to him, Belousov also attended the meeting of the senior adviser to the Supreme leader of Iran, Ali Larijani, with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Putin received Larijani in the Kremlin on July 20. The senior adviser to the Supreme Leader of Iran conveyed assessments of the aggravated situation in the Middle East and around the Iranian nuclear program. The Russian President, in turn, told the representative of Tehran about the positions aimed at stabilizing the situation in the region.
Later, on July 21, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic reported that Larijani had conveyed to Putin a message from Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian.
