The last six months have been favorable for Russian depositors due to high deposit rates, reaching 20-23% per annum, and the strengthening of the ruble. However, the situation is changing rapidly, Vladislav Alexandrov, Managing director of ALT3 Capital, told Izvestia on July 22.

Firstly, according to the expert, the high rate is a temporary effect: the world's central banks are starting to ease monetary policy, and the Bank of Russia may follow suit. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a ruble deposit with a yield above 16%.

Secondly, inflationary pressures persist, and by the end of 2025 they may exceed 7%. This reduces the real profitability of deposits, which makes them less effective.

"Meanwhile, the ruble exchange rate remains under pressure: the Ministry of Economic Development predicts its weakening to 98-100 rubles per dollar by the end of the year. For an investor, this means that even nominally high yields in rubles can be eaten up by devaluation and rising import prices," Alexandrov said.

Despite these risks, the volume of deposits of Russians continues to grow, which indicates confidence in the banking system. However, the concentration of capital in one asset class limits the opportunities for generating income.

The expert recommended capital diversification between multiple assets, including the stock market and alternative currency strategies such as decentralized finance (DeFi). According to him, fixed income instruments remain an important part of investment strategies, but it is important to be aware of the risks and allocate capital to various sources of risk.

On July 15, Financial director and consultant on management and financial accounting Marina Kulikova, in an interview with Izvestia, stated that one of the simplest and most affordable investment options is bank deposits. Large banks offer attractive deposit conditions. However, it is important to take into account the nuance: if the amount of the deposit is significant, it is better to divide it into several parts.
