The cancellation of a concert by Russian conductor and Director General of the Bolshoi Valery Gergiev in Italy is like madness. This opinion was shared with Izvestia on July 21 by the director of the Theater. Kirill Krok, Vakhtangova.

"This is the madness that civilized Europe creates when the maestro's talent and God's gift are linked to his political views and support for our country...> Wildness and nothing else," he noted.

According to the theatrical figure, "the so-called civilized Europe" is sliding into obscurantism and Russophobia, into the division of people into classes according to their civic position. Kroc stressed that art, including theater, should be beyond political themes.

Earlier that day, the management of the Royal Palace of Caserta in Italy canceled Gergiev's symphony concert scheduled for July 27 as part of the Un'estate da Re festival. According to the ANSA news agency, the conductor has been criticized for publicly supporting Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Gianluca Durante, a representative of the partner organization of the SCABEC concert, told Izvestia that it was not yet known at what level the decision to cancel the performance was made.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
