The expert spoke about the rules for protecting children from injury on playgrounds in the summer

Summer is a period of active play for children, but it also increases the likelihood of injury. Elena Kosheleva, Director of Sberbank Insurance projects, told Izvestia on July 22 about how to protect a child from damage on a playground.

"The most common are falls from heights: from horizontal bars, stairs, slides, swings. Also, children often hit their elbows, knees, get dislocations or bruises, especially if they land unsuccessfully on a hard surface. There are also more rare but unpleasant cases: getting stuck between bars, sliding on hot metal slides, small cuts from protruding elements," the expert said.

Kosheleva recommended to inspect the playground before the game: the coating should be shock—absorbing, and the structures should be safe and stable. The age of the child should also be taken into account: the play areas must correspond to his capabilities.

In addition, the expert advised parents to stay close during the games, keep an eye on the minor's clothes and choose comfortable things. If an injury does occur, it is necessary to treat the wound or seek medical help for serious injuries.

"An injury protection policy is a way to prepare for such situations. It will help to compensate for expenses and get back to the usual rhythm faster. The payment depends on the nature of the injury and can be used for treatment or recovery. Such a policy works in a variety of situations — in everyday life, in the yard at home or on trips," Kosheleva emphasized.

On February 26, it was reported that almost 70% of the parents surveyed would like to take their children to modern playgrounds with interactive equipment — with touch screens or musical accompaniment. In addition, safety was the most important criterion for 78.6% of respondents.
