The court sentenced the owner of the jewelry brand Darvol to seven years in prison
The Khamovnicheskiy District Court of Moscow found Darya Spiridonova, the owner of the Darvol jewelry brand, guilty in a case of large-scale jewelry fraud and sentenced her to seven years in a general regime penal colony. This was announced on July 21 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.
It is specified that Spiridonova was deprived of the right to engage in managerial activities in commercial organizations for three years. The verdict has not yet entered into force.
The lawyers asked the court to impose a non-custodial sentence on the brand's owner, or to delay its execution until her youngest daughter reaches the age of 14. Earlier, speaking with the last word, Spiridonova stated that she regretted what she had done and expressed her desire to correct the current situation.
On February 8, 2023, the court chose a preventive measure for the owner of the Darvol jewelry company and placed her under house arrest. Spiridonova's arrest took place on the same day. After a confrontation with one of the victims, the suspect was arrested and held in one of the capital's temporary detention facilities.
The girl was accused of committing 19 episodes of fraud worth more than 200 million rubles. She admitted her guilt, but did not agree with the amount of damage in terms of episodes and with some claims in civil lawsuits.
According to investigators, Spiridonova used several fraudulent schemes. Some customers lost money after trying to sell jewelry through the brand's owner, while others agreed to purchase jewelry from her at a tempting price and were left without funds after making the payment. In addition, the Darvol brand offered restoration services — customers handed over their jewelry for repair and never saw them again. It later turned out that Spiridonova had pawned some of the stolen jewelry.
