Western states realize that Russia cannot be defeated by imposing sanctions. This was announced on July 21 by Waldemar Eberhardt, a member of the Russian-German Chamber of Commerce and head of the Bavaria-Bau construction company.

"In my opinion, the West understands that no sanctions can defeat Russia, that the bottom has already been reached in relations with it," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

Eberhardt noted that these countries also understand that it is necessary to normalize relations with Russia. According to him, representatives of German business are increasingly trying to explain this to politicians.

"I feel such signals from the German business. They're audible, and it's not a figure of speech," Eberhardt said.

He noted that the voices of German business representatives were heard during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025). The German entrepreneurs came there to "participate firsthand, to understand what is happening in Russia."

The state Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and the Russian Federation, Sergei Glazyev, said on the same day that the European Union sanctions against Moscow and Minsk were very expensive for unification and hit Europe much harder than Russia and Belarus.
