The ruling coalition in Japan, which includes the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Komeito Party, lost its majority in the elections to the upper house of parliament. This was announced on July 21 by the NHK broadcasting company.

"In these elections, both the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Komeito Party failed to retain a majority of seats, becoming the ruling minority party in the House of Councillors after the House of Representatives," the publication says.

American political scientist Malek Dudakov said on July 14 that pragmatists may come to power in Japan who will pursue a more independent policy towards the United States against the background of all the contradictions that currently exist with American leader Donald Trump. He also suggested that if the party of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba loses, they will try to overthrow and remove him.
