Normalization of relations with Israel allowed in the Lebanese Parliament
Lebanon is considering the possibility of restoring diplomatic ties with Israel, provided that key differences between the two countries are resolved. This was stated by Marwan Abdullah, head of the Department for External Relations of the Kataib parliamentary party, in an interview with Izvestia.
"Like any normal country in the world, Lebanon should have clearly defined borders with its neighbors. It is necessary to establish a final demarcation with Israel so that each side knows where its territory is and where the threat begins. These are natural processes — any country strives to settle borders with its neighbors," Marwan Abdullah said.
At the same time, he stressed that the issue of Israeli-Lebanese relations goes beyond the usual demarcation.
"This is due to the hostility, the issue of prisoners and the destruction. Therefore, this is a more complex and painful topic. But when all these issues are resolved, nothing prevents the normalization of relations," Kataib said.
