The meeting between American leader Donald Trump and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping in South Korea is likely to take place before or during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. This was reported on July 20 by the South China Morning Post (SCMP) agency, citing sources.

"Trump may visit China before traveling to the APEC summit from October 30 to November 1, or meet with his Chinese counterpart on the sidelines of the APEC event," the publication says.

According to the agency's sources, the APEC summit may be the "best opportunity" for the leaders of the countries to meet. Despite this, the American leader's attendance at the event is still not confirmed.

On July 16, Bloomberg reported that Trump had softened his rhetoric against China in order not to disrupt the meeting with Xi Jinping. It is noted that the current position of the head of the White House towards Beijing contrasts with his threats to other trading partners to undermine their economies through high trade duties.
