- The participants told about the new stage of the Silk Road Rally marathon in Mongolia
In the new stage of the international Silk Road rally marathon in the Mongolian desert, participants had to overcome hundreds of kilometers of dunes and traps. Even experienced ones got lost in the endless sands, and trucks overturned. The participants shared their emotions from the journey with Izvestia on July 20.
"Today's stage turned out to be a little more difficult than I expected, and the day turned out to be difficult, the equipment stopped working. Fortunately, I finished first," said Murun Purevdorj, a rally participant.
The weather is over + 30 degrees, but the fans, despite the heat, filled the field — all with Russian tricolors in their hands. To the roar of the engine and the roar of the crowd, the Mongolian rider was the first in his class to cross the finish line.
"I like the rally. The Silk Road Rally is a very dynamic competition where the strongest people and machines fight," said local resident Hulikbat.
As explained by Sergey Vyazovich, the pilot of the MAZ-Sportauto team, the sands of Zavkhan are treacherous and suddenly give way to viscous traps.
"The sands were difficult because they are dry and the first part, we almost always went uphill. Up, up, up, so it was difficult for the engine. We warmed up very much," said Vyazovich.
At the same time, the "Red Bison" from Belarus chose a strategy to follow their rivals in order to get ahead at the right moment.
At the same time, the rally's newcomers, crew No. 204 on a Toyota Hilux, lost their windshield and rear wing on the very first dunes.
"Overall, we're happy that we made it. There's a lot of work on the car, we don't have a clutch, it's burned out. We have work to do on the bodywork," admitted Pavel Andreev, the pilot of the 404 Racing Team.
The seventh stage of the Silk Road Rally ended in Mongolia yesterday. The crews overcame hundreds of kilometers of off—road conditions in the marathon stage - without the accompaniment of technicians.
