Putin pointed to the gradual development of the Russian automotive industry

Russia is consistently developing its own automotive industry. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an interview with journalist Pavel Zarubin.

The Head of State recalled that in the mid-1990s, the government expressed opinions about the inexpediency of developing its own automotive industry.

"I disagreed with those who suggested buying everything abroad, and we began to develop our car industry. We started doing this in stages," Putin said during a working trip to the Samara region.

According to him, at the first stage, Russia launched production together with Western partners and allowed them to assemble cars inside the country.
