Another senior American official drew attention to the attack on a Catholic church in Gaza. It is noted that after the Israeli strike, Trump contacted Netanyahu and demanded an explanation.

Another unnamed official from the United States shared that skepticism about the Israeli prime minister is growing in the presidential administration. According to him, people believe that Netanyahu "itches his trigger finger too much." He is also called too destructive and looks "like a child who does not know how to behave."

A meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in Damascus is scheduled for the evening of July 17.

Earlier, on July 19, the US special Representative for Syria, Tom Barrack, announced that Israel and Syria had reached a ceasefire agreement with the support of Washington.
