American journalist Tucker Carlson said that Russian President Vladimir Putin has done a great job for the country and elevated it. He stated this on July 20 in an interview with Paul Ronzheimer, deputy editor-in-chief of the Bild newspaper.

"I'm not defending Putin, who, in my opinion, has done a great job for Russia — a job that is much better than (the one he did. – Ed.) any German politician. That's for sure. Your country is going down, Russia is rising," the journalist said.

Carlson also called former German Chancellor Angela Merkel a criminal, pointing out that she had destroyed Germany by allowing a huge number of migrants into the country.

"You should be furious at your own politicians. Instead, you're furious at Putin, which makes me laugh," he added.

As Carlson noted, if you don't pay attention to media reports and statements by politicians, but instead address issues that are really important to people, the Germans will realize that their enemy is not Putin. For example, according to him, Merkel "filled up the park with garbage and filled it with migrants."

"And Merz keeps doing the same thing. They are the enemies, they are the ones who have made life worse.<...> I wonder if there is anyone in Germany who sees this clearly," he stressed.

At the same time, according to Carlson, in Germany, it is customary not to raise the consequences of such problems as mass migration in the public space.

On July 12, Tucker Carlson demanded to be stripped of US citizenship for participating in the conflict in Ukraine. The journalist stressed that it is impossible to fight for another country and still remain an American.
