Rospotrebnadzor announced the absence of cases of chikungunya fever in Russia
No imported cases of chikungunya fever have been recorded in Russia. This was announced on Sunday, July 20, by the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
"In order to ensure security at border checkpoints, the Perimeter automated information system is used, which allows identifying citizens with signs of infectious diseases," the report says.
In addition, Rospotrebnadzor specialists conduct entomological monitoring, assess the number and infection of mosquitoes that may be carriers of the virus.
In Russia, according to Rospotrebnadzor, there are no conditions for the formation of a local circulation of the pathogen among mosquitoes. Domestic test systems are used to diagnose the disease.
Rospotrebnadzor recommends that travelers to endemic regions use repellents, closed clothing and mosquito nets. If symptoms appear after the trip, you should consult a doctor and inform them about your stay in the risk area.
Virologist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Viktor Zuev said on May 27 that chikungunya fever may manifest itself the day after the bite of an infected mosquito. He also noted that the main symptoms of fever include fever, muscle and joint pain.
