Hong Kong authorities have issued a storm warning of the highest level due to the approach of Hurricane Vifa. This was reported by The Guardian newspaper on July 20.

"Hong Kong has issued the highest tropical cyclone warning after Typhoon Vifa hit the city. The authorities canceled classes at schools and suspended hundreds of flights," the article says.

According to the city meteorological observatory, the typhoon is located about 60 km from the city. Huge waves were seen off its eastern coast.

"About 500 flights were canceled due to weather conditions, and about 400 flights were rescheduled," The Guardian writes, citing a statement from a representative of the Hong Kong Airport Authority.

Local authorities have suspended classes in schools and kindergartens.

Earlier, on July 7, at least 28 people were injured in Taiwan due to Typhoon Danas. The maximum hurricane strength in the cyclone reached 12-13 points. Due to bad weather, more than 1.5 thousand tourists were evacuated from remote islands.
