The Japanese government has warned its companies located in Taiwan about self-evacuation in the event of a Chinese attack on the island. This was reported on July 19 by the Financial Times newspaper, citing sources.

"Japanese officials have told companies that if it is necessary to evacuate personnel from Taiwan due to the Chinese attack, they will have to rely solely on their own forces," the publication says.

According to the publication, Japanese partners who operate in Taiwan have been receiving such notifications for about three years.

According to the Teikoku Databank research group, about 3,000 Japanese companies operate in Taiwan. As one of the newspaper's sources noted, Japan believes that there is "no government" in Taiwan, and China is unlikely to give permission for the evacuation.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said on July 15 that China opposes any official contacts between Taiwan and the United States, and Washington should be aware of the sensitivity of the Taiwan issue for Beijing.
