US President Donald Trump and American financier Jeffrey Epstein, accused of sexual crimes, have been friends for almost 15 years and regularly spent time together. This was reported on July 19 by the New York Times (NYT).

"Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein have spent almost 15 years talking side by side as open friends," the newspaper says.

It is specified that Trump and Epstein met in 1990, when the financier bought a house near Mar-a-Lago, a private club and residence of the American leader. They were energetic and effective men, which eventually brought them closer.

The publication added that Epstein's mansion on the Upper East Side hosted lavish dinners with famous personalities, and parties with cheerleaders and models were held at Mar-a-Lago. Between these events, Trump and Epstein flew over Florida and New York on the financier's private jet.

According to the newspaper, this raises questions about the moral principles of the American leader and the ability to draw the right conclusions, given the current situation with the spread of accusations related to Epstein.

On July 18, Trump filed a lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch, the owner of The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper, for publishing an alleged erotic gift to financier Jeffrey Epstein. As the American leader noted, the lawsuit was filed not only in his personal interests, but also allegedly in the interests of the American people.
