Captain of the hockey club of the National Hockey League (NHL) Washington Capitals Alexander Ovechkin held an autograph session at the "box" of his childhood in the north of Moscow. The July 19 footage is published by Izvestia.

He expressed the hope that such an event would not be a one-time event.

"Everyone wanted to be photographed, an autograph. There was pride. For what we did, for breaking the record. Thanks to the fans who were sick and worried," Ovechkin said.

Alexander Ovechkin scored his 895th goal in the NHL regular season on April 6 in a match against the New York Islanders, breaking Wayne Gretzky's record of 894 goals scored. Washington's owner Ted Leonsis noted on May 18 that Ovechkin had written his name into history.
