The death toll from road accidents in Iran has exceeded 20 people.

The death toll from a car accident between the cities of Firuzabad and Kevar in the southern Iranian province of Fars has risen to 21 people, and the number of injured to 34 people. This was announced on July 19 by the head of the ambulance service of the region, Masoud Abed.

"The number of victims of a bus accident on the Firuzabad-Kevar highway has increased to 21 people... 34 people were also injured," Abed was quoted as saying on the IRNA Telegram channel.

A high-alert regime has been introduced at Namazi, Rajai and Muslimin hospitals in Shiraz, as well as Gham Hospital in Firuzabad, to ensure uninterrupted hospitalization of the injured. The Crisis Operations Command and the Medical Monitoring Center coordinate the provision of assistance to the victims.

Earlier on Saturday, Abed said that as a result of a car accident in Fars province in southern Iran, 15 people were killed and 27 others were injured.
