Sobyanin spoke about measures to develop the infrastructure of the Moskva River

Over the past 50 years, the unique municipal fleet of the Russian capital has been taking care of the condition of the Moskva River: 30 vessels have been removing silt deposits, collecting garbage and eliminating surface pollution. This was stated by Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in a post on his Telegram channel on the occasion of the Moscow River Day.

In turn, Mosvodostok Environmental management specialists "take water samples and analyze its hydrochemical composition year-round," the mayor wrote. Modern equipment is used for the work. "The water quality in the Moskva River is improving from year to year," said the mayor. "This is largely due to the large—scale reconstruction of urban wastewater treatment plants and the introduction of technology for deep removal of nitrogen and phosphorus from wastewater."

Employees of GBU "Gormost" monitor the condition of embankments, bridges and berths, regularly clean structures, and, if necessary, repair them. This year, the Fili and Novospassky berths were renovated, and the reconstruction of the Luzhniki-Tsentralny berth began.

Rescuers of the Moscow City Search and Rescue Service on water bodies are responsible for the safety of people. The data center staff helps passengers at the berths and monitors safety in the water area using cameras.

Speaking about the improvement of the embankments, Sobyanin recalled that a little more than 10 years ago they were not convenient enough for pedestrians. "Now these are walking areas for recreation and sports. River trips are also very popular," the mayor emphasized.

In May, Sobyanin said that another pedestrian bridge would appear in Moscow, which would connect the arrow of Baltschug Island with Repinsky Square. The 170 m long and 5.4 m wide structure is spanned by a Small Stone Bridge over a Drainage channel. The project provides for four descents to the embankment, two of them with a slope for the convenience of low—mobility residents and parents with strollers. In the evening, the pillars and spans of the bridge will be decorated with spectacular white and blue lighting, the mayor added.
